Grinding Stumps

​Is tree stump removal necessary or is it better to grind a stump?
 
Trees are an important part of nature but sometimes they pose safety or property risk and they need to be removed immediately. Chopping down a tree, unfortunately, does not end the removal debate, the property owner should also decide what to do with the tree stump. You can completely remove the tree stump,  and another option is grinding.
 
Reason to remove the tree stump
There are some convincing reasons why you should remove the tree stump. A decaying stump of a tree attracts termites and other insects, and they start living permanently in it. If you are having a tree stump somewhere close to your house then there are chances that the insect may enter your home and can cause serious damage or create an emergency situation. So if you want to avoid any awkward situation in the future then it's better to remove the tree stump. Moreover, a decaying tree stump does not look very good and it can spoil the entire look of your property so it can also hurt your curb appeal and can damage the value of your property. In addition to this if there is the presence of a tree stump then the roots are still in the ground and if you are mowing the lawn Then it's possible that you might end up running over these routes with your lawnmower and that can damage your machine leading to an expensive repair bill. If you are planning to plant flowers in your area with tree stems then this is simply not going to work because the tree root network is spread in the ground and it will surely prevent the new plants from taking hold.
 
Stump Grinding Vs. Stump Removing
Both processes have their own benefits and drawbacks, you can choose any option depending on what you are planning to do with your landscape in the future. Stump removal needs more hard work because the bulky tree is going to be completely removed including the roots which are taken out of the ground. So this will need a lot of hard work, energy,  time and equipment also. As a result, you are going to get a perfectly clean yard with an endless array of possibilities but on the other hand, your lawn will get a large hole that has to be filled in.
 
As compared to this, stump grinding is an easier process and all you need is a trained professional who can use a machine to completely grind the stump. This is an extremely efficient process that takes little time and will leave your yard intact.  But you need to know that it is going to leave the root network in the ground and in case if the stump is larger then there might be a large chip pile left behind. These tips can later be used for mulching. In the case of stump grinding the visible roots are removed by grinding but in the case of old trees, the roots are spread out a long distance, sometimes 8 to 12 feet, beyond the stump. These roots will decay but it takes a very long time, approximately ten years.
